Prometheus

It's time for movie review!  Last week B and went and saw Prometheus in 3D.  It is the prequel to the Alien movies for all of you non sci-fi watchers out there. I was excited and nervous for the movie, expecting a lot of crazy looking Aliens that jump out at you and grossness.  But, the movie had other things in store for me...a lot of anti-climactic rising action.

Also, I don't think the director did a good job of explaining or showing where the theme of "Prometheus" originated from. To the common person one would think it's a fancy name for the beginning/creation of man as the movie would put it. In actuality Prometheus is a Greek mythological figure that has many representations. The myth best fitting is that Prometheus was the figure of scientific exploration and human striving and survival no matter the consequences. This myth best fits in with the plot and story line.

Unfortunately the movie was fairly slow going and not quick to develop.  It was however, a true depiction of how humans are hardwired to never give up and will try everything in their power to always survive.  We are a survivalist species and this movie encapsulates this.  There are quite a few bitter sweet moments where the scientists make the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good of mankind. I won't give anything away in case you haven't seen it yet, so that is all for the review! Overall, it was a good movie, but I would save this for a rental.

Xoxo,
Annie
